Whether it’s the gentlest of pats on the back or the loudest of ringing endorsements, we all enjoy the feeling of being praised for a job well done.
At Tudor Group, we are delighted to have recently renewed our SafeContractor accreditation following a comprehensive audit of our policies and working practices. As part of the process, we achieved the highest Gold level in SafePQQ – an extension of the SafeContractor health and safety audit that includes the common question sets within PAS 91.
Independent evaluation
There is transparency built into accreditation schemes such as SafeContractor, giving procurement teams a detailed, independent view inside supplier businesses. This reduces the risk of engaging with a third-party and avoids the need for them to undertake their own rigorous and time-consuming assessment process.
Financial stability
Via the SafeContractor portal, procurement teams can access accounting information as part of their due diligence process, ensuring the contractors they engage with are on a solid financial footing.
Principled decision-making
Financial performance and service promises are only part of the story – it’s equally important for companies to demonstrate the principles and values that anchor their activities. Do they have a commitment to support and/or enhance equality and diversity, for example? Do they have robust processes in place to protect against bribery and modern slavery?
Workforce quality
It is frequently said that any company’s biggest asset is its people. That’s certainly true for us, and our accreditation provides documentation of the work we put into training and managing our workforce on an ongoing basis. We ensure they have a valuable blend of aptitude and attitude, and we maintain a skills tracker to highlight when an individual should access updated training as part of their ongoing development.
Systems investment
For any team to maintain the high levels of delivery required in today’s fast-paced world, hard work must be guided by standards and underpinned by a continued investment in systems and technology. For our part, we support customer relationships using BigChange’s JobWatch CRM and job management platform while employing MY Compliance Management software to organise key compliance documentation, such as our Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS), COSHH assessments and key assets.
Safety first
As cleaning contractors, we are comfortable working at height – and that is because we are secure in the knowledge that we are following the most stringent industry safety standards. Our abseiling operatives are all IRATA trained, and we also have several employees that are IPAF trained, to operate our Mobile Elevated Working Platforms (MEWPs). These operatives are trained in the critical importance of adhering to these training standards in the course of their day-to-day work.
Sustainability commitment
Tackling climate change is a major challenge, and for supply chains to really make a difference, every company must contribute by thinking and acting sustainably. As our ISO14001 accreditation shows, we are committed to implementing ways of working that minimise our impact on the environment while continuing to deliver the level of service our clients expect.
In summary, these multiple benefits show how accreditation brings significant advantages for procurement teams. It helps make the challenge of finding a trustworthy, reliable supplier that much easier, minimising the risks involved as well as the drain on resources and time. And that is the principal reason we are invested in schemes such as SafeContractor.
But we would be lying if we said the entire process is driven by selflessness. Underpinning it all, of course, is the potential to win new contracts. And further to this, we will also admit to enjoying the reflected praise it brings. We are not required to open our doors and our books to such close analysis, but we have an ambition to deliver a ‘right first time’ gold-standard service, and we are full of professional pride when our hard work is recognised in this way.
